When you’re at the hospital, doctors have processes in place to make sure you receive the right medication at the right time. But when you’re at home, you have a lot going on, which makes it difficult to keep things straight on your own.

Here are some tips for medication management:

  • Take medication as prescribed – Don’t self-medicate. Listen to the doctor and take your medication as prescribed, which means don’t take too much and don’t miss doses.
  • List your medications – You could create a calendar with times and names of each medication. This will help you to keep your mediation straight.
  • Fill your prescription before the last one runs out – Don’t wait til they’re all gone before you get a new box. Plan ahead and make sure you’ve got a new box of meds before the last one is finished.
  • Store it properly – It’s easy to get meds mixed up if they’re not stored correctly, so make sure you keep them in their box or label them so that you don’t get confused.

Your life is busy, so medication management is important. At the hospital, the doctors have their own schedule, so when you’re at home, you need to make yours. Make it a part of your daily routine.

You Don’t Have To Do It Alone.
